In 1906 Frederick Aunspaugh, an insurance agent, married Ruth McCoy in Norfolk, Va., where they lived until 1925 when they moved to Raleigh, N.C. The Aunspaugh's daughter Ruth married Frank Daniels of Raleigh in 1929. Chiefly correspondence and photographs documenting the domestic activities of the Aunspaughs. There are a few other items, including diplomas, invitations, and clippings. The correspondence deals with family topics such as health, weather, and trips taken. The pictures are chiefly informal family photographs, with some pictures of scenery. There are a few items relating to other family members, but the collection is focused primarily on the immediate family.

Frederick Aunspaugh was born 17 September 1870 in Liberty, now Bedford, Va., to Robert T. Aunspaugh and Anne Clayton Aunspaugh. In 1898, Aunspaugh moved to Norfolk, Virginia. He worked as an agent in Virginia and North Carolina for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. He married Ruth McCoy of Suffolk County, Va., and Gates County, N.C., in 1906.
